The American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) grabbed some headlines last week when it took sides with the Utah Stream Access Coalition in it’s challenge to the constitutionality of Utah’s Public Waters Access Act. “From the perspective of the fly-fishing industry as a whole, the multiplier effect of anglers traveling to and fishing in Utah is important, impacting not only guides, outfitters, retailers, and other businesses in Utah, but hundreds of other fishing-related businesses throughout the country,” said AFFTA Chairman Jim Klug.

Today the industry group will announce the appointment of Andrew Bennett, owner and operator of Deneki Outdoors (and a MidCurrent travel columist) to the AFFTA board. Bennett, who founded Deneki in 2001 and says he’s “excited for the opportunity to contribute at a higher level,” will fill a recently vacated seat.
