North Carolina Redfish May Get Gamefish Status

A new bill that would give red drum, spotted sea trout and striped bass “gamefish” status has bi-partisan political support and may pass despite objections of commercial fishermen and the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries, says Patrick Gannon in StarNewsOnline. “There’s something in the bill for the commercial fishermen as well. It would provide for a buyout of fishermen who can prove financial losses from the prohibition.”
