Buyers seeking high-quality feathers from suppliers like Whiting Farms are willing to pay thousands of dollars for 12-14-inch feathers. One reason: American Idol judge Stephen Tyler is wearing feathers in his hair.
Thomas Whiting, who ships out thousands of feathered bird hides a week, is now hiding in the barn — literally. “‘I had to get away from the aggressive salon owners,’ he said via cell phone, a cacophony of rooster calls filling the background.”
