In the “Who Would Have Thunk?” category, John Merwin suggests Kool-Aid as the dye of choice for deer hair. (And to think even further — we drink this stuff.) He gives complete directions on how to prep the hair, distribute the dye, and dry the final product.
“Dissolve one or more packs of unsweetened Kool-Aid in a little warm water. Using more Kool-Aid gives greater color depth, so don’t be bashful. A Kool-Aid pack costs 20 cents at my local Wal-Mart, so price is really no obstacle.” On FieldandStream.com.
