WLx Fly Reels

Cabela’s WLx fly reels were designed by Waterworks-Lamson exclusively for Cabela’s.  They’re designed to offer outstanding value in a machined-aluminum reel with a disc-drag system. They are fully CNC machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, matched with 17-4 stainless steel components and clad in a two-toned, non-glare anodized finish. The aggressive large-arbor ratios ensure minimum line coil memory and maximum line pick-up speed. A solid spool with “Mill Truss” machining elevates the strength-to-weight ratio. The sealed drag combines stacked Rulon disks with a two-stage compression drag spring to accommodate a wide range of drag pressures  The ball bearing drag knob with detents creates a positive yet smooth drag selection.  There is a large knurled drag knob for ease of adjustment in wet conditions.

This reel also features an O-ring and spindle flare which locks the spool, reducing both mechanical complexity and weight.  The reel clicks when line is both incoming and outgoing. Finally, there is easy tool-free conversion from left to right-hand retrieve. They can be used in both freshwater and saltwater, and are available in six sizes: 2/3, 4/5, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12. The three larger sizes are built with a beefed-up drag system that has a surface area 30-percent larger than the three smaller sizes. Available January 1, 2011 for $189.99 to $229.99.
