Scientific Anglers Introduces “Mastery Textured” Series

No doubt in response to feedback on the abrasiveness of the Sharkskin series, SA just announced a new line of more moderately textured lines with “golf-ball dimple” patterns.

SA product development engineer Tim Pommer introduces them in the video below. Pommer noted that the new line might not give you all of the extra distance the Sharkskin does, but it comes close. And the new line tends to float higher, making it easy to pick up.

  • I watched this video 3 times, and at 3 points of the video I’m pretty sure he calls it “MastereD Textured”, and not “MasterY Textured.”

Either way, I like the idea and hope to try the line out someday!

  • I’m not surprised SA came out with it. Beats sticking a stripping guard in every box! Love the way Sharkskin shoots and floats, but I do not like having to wrap my index finger with tape, or any other measure. FIshed the Sharkskin the other night for snook, and though bigger fish always get on the reel preety quickly, I tend to hand-strip the smallest fish to the boat. Under that “fish pressure” the line did did “groove” me. I’ll continue to fish the “Skins” but sure look forward to casting the new textured line.
