Fly Casters Will Power the World (Maybe)

The idea of attaching a gravity-powered cylinder to your forearm before setting out after “the fish of a thousand casts” may be far-fetched. But a new device from nPower does tweak the imagination when it comes to powering personal electronics in the wild. The nPower PEG (Personal Energy Generator) captures kinetic energy and stores it for use in charging phones, GPSs and other electronic devices. Even if you can’t imagine strapping the 12-ounce cylinder to your arm (we don’t recommend it, actually), you can attach the nPower PEG to your pack or probably even to the door panel of your rig if you plan on bouncing your way down a few miles of dirt road.
