Pink: The Hottest Color in Drift Boats

August 5, 2010 By: Marshall Cutchin

Pink-Boat---Maiden-Voyage-2.jpgAs we noted in last week’s “Tippets,” some friends in the fly fishing industry — including Rance Rathie and Travis Smith, owners of Patagonia River Guides, who dreamed up the concept to support some of their favorite female clients, Yellow Dog Flyfishing’s Ian Davis, RO’s Robert Eddins, and marketing pro Whitney McDowell — recently got together and ordered a pink drift boat from RO drift boat factory in Bozeman, Montana (Eddins donated his time and the facility).
Now fishing guides throughout the western United States are rowing the pink boat for a few days at a time, accepting donations from clients, fellow anglers, onlookers – anyone interested in supporting the cause to find a cure for breast cancer – before passing it on to the next outfitter, lodge or guide.
If you’re interested in being a rower, email Ian Davis at [email protected]. And if you see the pink “Rowing for the Cure” boat while fishing or at the boat ramp, parked at your favorite post-fishing watering hole or at your local fly shop, please donate to the cause. You can also follow the adventures of the pink boat on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/RowingForACure.
