Lockheed Martin Goes After Bamboo Rod Maker

The world’s largest defense contractor has been accused of bullying small companies over trademark issues before, but their decision to try and force Jerry Foster to abandon his skunkworksflyrods.com domain has many people scratching their heads. Trademark law can be extremely complicated, but suggesting, as the LM attorney did, that Skunkworks Fly Rods’ use “is in bad faith and is an attempt to profit off the goodwill of the Skunk Works trademark,” seems to be testing the boundaries, says Victoria Slind-Flor in Bloomberg/Businessweek.
