30-Minute Fly Art: the Soft Hackle

The Kennedy/Borger 30-Minute Flies contest this week shows the two artists’ different interpretations of a Soft Hackle.
Kennedy says: “Went digital on this one. I produced a series of flies in this method for Fly Fusion Magazine. Recently, I completed a fly for a soon-to-be-announced Patagonia program using this same method.” Borger comments: “For this soft-hackle, I wanted a thread body and that ‘low water’ feel, so I spent a couple of minutes getting a bit of carefully applied shadow and shine where I thought it most important.”
