Golden Lotus Inc., which owns Song of the Morning yoga retreat, will work with TU and Michigan’s DNRE to remove a faulty impoundment and return natural flows to the river. The Pigeon River, a prized trout stream, is located in the north-central part of the southern peninsula of Michigan. Its headwaters are located a few miles northeast of Gaylord.
“DNRE fish biologist David Borgeson said this afternoon the monetary settlement is modest in light of the damages. But the long-term benefits of returning the river to its natural flow are ‘a very big deal,’ he said. ‘We’ll be way far ahead ecologically.’” Dawson Bell in the Detroit Free Press.
