Columnist Dave Souza itemizes his fly rod collection and along the way offers some excellent advice about the best all-around rods for various species of fish. “With fly rods now made from size 1 through 18, you can attempt to catch anything from the tiniest brookies to marlin in the open ocean. For fresh water, sizes 1 through 7 are the sizes available with size 5 considered the best all-round rod.
