Fly Fishing People: Nordic Combined Silver Medalist Johnny Spillane

If you watched the dramatic end of the Nordic Combined skiing competition in Vancouver, B.C. yesterday, you saw Johnny Spillane emerge from the pack and build a sizeable lead, only to be overtaken by France’s Jason Lamy Chappui near the finish. Still, it was the first ever Nordic Combined medal for the U.S. in the Olympics.
One thing you probably didn’t know about Spillane — from Steamboat Springs, Colorado — is that his other favorite sport is fly fishing. In fact, he works as a fly fishing guide in the summer.
