To every dry-fly purist’s horror, Arkansas guide John Berry has what seems like a hundred ways to make a fly sink, including Buss wire, bead heads, Larva Lead, Dinsmore’s removable split shot and (gasp) tying them on jig heads. “On lower flows, I like to use strip lead. This is a long ribbon of lead that can be wrapped around the leader. I always attach it above the leader tippet connection, so that it cannot slip. The brand that I use is Larva Lead, which is sold at local fly shops.” In the Baxter Bulletin.
