Carp: A Different Sort of Royalty

To be honest, stories like this make me wonder if some British carp weren’t meant to be born with handles on both ends, but the mysterious death of a 25-year-old fish named Benson involves quite a bit of intrigue. Explanations range from toxic Tiger Nuts to failed pregnancy (yes, Benson was a girl). “‘Within the fishing fraternity, she was like a film star, like Raquel Welch,’ said Dave Wilmot, a fisherman from Nottingham, standing on the shores of Kingfisher Lake in a pouring rain this week. ‘Like Sophia Loren,’ another angler piped in, and ‘equally difficult to catch.'” Alistair MacDonald and Paul Sonne in The Wall Street Journal.
