Scanout Magazine : What It's Really Like To Be There

April 8, 2009 By: Marshall Cutchin

The combined talents of Yngve Ask, Tim Pask and Peter Huber are merged in a smartly assembled digital magazine that offers a new visual feast for fly fishers this month. Scanout Magazine is a post-trip media production that includes oversized photos and insightful essays and uses clickable overlays to allow readers to move beyond the magazine itself for more information. If you’re not already familiar with the photographic artistry of Yngve Ask or Tim Pask, this is a great way to experience their terrific work on a regular basis. Peter Huber’s design skills are as good as anything you’ll see in two dimensions.
While not every issue is focused on fly fishing (their first issue was on the wild mustangs of Patagonia), I doubt we’ll see a publication from this team that doesn’t keep a grip on anglers’ interests. Issue #2 is on fly fishing for tarpon in Miami, and Issue #3 is packed with visual goodness from a recent B.C. steelhead trip. A free subscription to the new Scanout Magazine is available here.
