Vladivostok Air’s inaugural flight departs Anchorage for Petropavlovsk – on time!
The first of 20 Vladivostok Air jet-service flights scheduled to service Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka Russia from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport this summer and early fall departed Monday morning July 7th – on time. The 60 passengers, mostly sport anglers headed to Kamchatka for the incredible fly fishing opportunities, were given a big send off on the historic flight, the first normally scheduled airline service between Alaska and Kamchatka in more than seven years.
Flights between Petropavlovsk, Kamchatsky, the regional capital and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport will run until September 15th, with the route expected to prove popular for both business and leisure passengers, especially fly fishing enthusiasts.
A round trip ticket between Anchorage and Petropavlovsk via Vladivostok Air costs approximately $1,890. Travelers interested in purchasing Vladivostok Air tickets should contact TM&I Travel at 425-787-6388 / Toll-free: 800-596-2297 / E-mail: [email protected]
The remote Kamchatka Peninsula of far-eastern Russia is a sparsely populated wooded peninsula, roughly the size of California and laced with more than 1,200 rivers and spring creeks teaming with wild rainbow trout, char and six species of Pacific Salmon. The Kamchatka Peninsula is widely regarded as the last frontier of Northern Hemisphere wilderness trout fishing and represents the cutting edge of international fly fishing travel.
The short summer fishing season of Kamchatka starts early July and runs through mid September with trips lasting one week, although many anglers opt for a two week stay. For more information, contact The Fly Shop at 800.669.3474 / 530.222.3555 or [email protected].
