Temple Fork Outfitters Introduces New Axiom Series Fly Rods

With the annual fly fishing gear fest called the Fly Fishing Retailer Show starting next Sunday, most manufacturers are beginning to release details of their 2008 lineup. Temple Fork Outfitters is among the first, talking up their new Axiom rods. Axiom series fly rods apparently use a new technology that prevents the “ovaling” of the rod blank when under stress, something that TFO claims will be a huge help to distance casters. The patent-pending manufacturing process involves sandwiching Kevlar between two layers of carbon fiber “pre-preg.”

Temple Fork Outfitters New Axiom Series Fly Rods
AXIOM – A self-evident truth that requires no proof.
Approaching big wary fish is usually a difficult task, no matter how brave or stealthy the wader, they didn’t get that big by accident. How do you present a fly to these big bruisers? Walk softly and carry a big stick. Introducing Temple Fork Outfitters new Axiom series fly rods; a new rod series with innovative technology engineered to be that big stick.
Through a proprietary process, Kevlar is sandwiched between two layers of carbon fiber pre-preg. This patented (US patent pending) process helps reduce the ovaling effect a rod blank experiences under load, creating an exceptionally smooth powerful rod with remarkable damping (tip bounce) qualities. The result is ultra high line speed with crisp, clean, accurate loops.
Axiom fly rods will be appreciated most by more experienced casters and anglers as they will find the reserve power irresistible when big casts are required. Although capable of short and accurate casts, they will be best suited for medium to large rivers and we predict, will become a favorite of tournament distance casters. Imagine sending the 5 wt. prototypes to both Lefty Kreh and Ed Jaworowski and having them both say, “Wow! That may be the smoothest casting rod I’ve ever thrown.”
TFO’s Axiom series feature a rich translucent blue blank accentuated with gold script and accents, Flor grade cork (reverse half wells on the 5, full wells with decorative burl rings on the 6, 8 and 10), gun metal blue up-locking reel seat and large stripping guides with gold titanium oxide inserts. With a suggested retail of $249.95 – $274.95 big sticks for big fish are easily within reach.
All TFO rods feature our lifetime unconditional warranty. Simply return the damaged rod with $25 for shipping and handling, and we will repair or replace your rod. Please ask your local dealer about TFO or visit our website www.templeforkflyrods.com for more information

I was sent the press release a week ago. Rick Pope concluded, “I hope you will be willing to try one.” I’m still laughing. Bring it on. If I can “spool” my line with an 8wt Ti/Cr X I’m looking forward to casting some backing while with the Axiom. I gave up golf when I could hit it a mile but couldn’t hit it straight.
Axiomatically, I have high hopes that I can shoot straighter with an Axiom.
