"Trout Town, USA"

The Chamber of Commerce of Cotter, Arkansas has a new marketing plan to bring traffic to their tiny town. They are going to call themselves “Trout Town, USA.” There’s only one problem with the plan: a little place at the junction of the Beaverkill and Willowemoc, Roscoe, New York, has been known by that name for decades.

Hey, Cotter! How about Sowbug, USA

  • Excuse me, but I think you’ve misread the article you linked to in the Baxter Bulletin. The name isn’t “Trout Town USA” but Trout Capital USA. It’s been Cotter’s nickname since at least the 1960s, and was named so “officially” by the Arkansas Legislature in the last decade or two. Just thought you might like to make an addition to your comment. You might check out Cotter’s official Web site and see what a special place it is!

  • Hmmm… We could have sworn that article originally said “Trout Town.” 🙂 No matter, Trout Capital it is!
