If you’ve ever heard of Bern Johnson, it is probably because he is head of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, an organization that helps lawyers do environmental and human rights work, from enforcing environmental laws in China to helping partners in the Caribbean protect the Mesoamerican Reef. What does he consider his greatest personal vice? “I own too many fly rods. But most of them were gifts!” Grist magazine offers this recent interview with him.
