2006 Fly Fishing Retailer Show New Product Wrap-Up

The Fly Fishing Retailer Show is not open to the public, so we’ve decided to provide a summary and review of all of the hundreds of new products that were on display there this year. The three-day show, held this year from August 24 to August 26 at Denver, Colorado’s Convention Center, was jammed with retailers and media ogling all the new rods, reels, fly lines, clothing, waders and accessories. In “Four Feet of Anything,” we note our Best of Show picks from among the new products due to arrive at fly shops and in catalogs, compare some newer product lines with old favorites, and try to pass along a little of the flavor of this once-a-year event where the fly fishing gear cogniscenti get together to rub elbows, drink beer, and talk shop.
