Smokey Mountain Summer Tactics

Trout Underground picked up this informative piece from Ian Rutter on strategies for fishing mountain brook trout streams when the weather is warmest. There’s lots of good detail here, particularly on fishing terrestrials in small streams. “Aquatics are funneled by the current into very well defined feeding lanes. Terrestrials may end up in these feeding lanes, but are more likely to hit the water under tree limbs and close to vegetated zones along the banks. These are ideal spots to drop your fly. Chances are good that a fish will travel some distance to snatch the fly out of frog water.”
